ONEONTA, N.Y. – Thanks to five straight aces from freshman
Molly Ball (Sayre, Pa./Sayre Area) early in a fourth set in which the Lycoming College volleyball team jumped out to an early 10-point lead en route to a match-clinching 25-9 win, as Lycoming posted a 3-1 (25-20, 25-23, 27-29, 25-9) victory over Hartwick College to open the Hartwick Invitational on Friday afternoon, Sept. 15.

Lycoming (7-2 overall) hit .344 in the match with 10.5 blocks and 11 aces, while it held Hartwick (4-6 overall) to an .092 hitting percentage.

In the first set, the Warriors had a hot-hitting first set, jumping out to an 11-3 lead that eventually ballooned to 22-14 before Hartwick scored six of the last nine points, but the sixth kill of the set from freshman
Kiannah Titus (Clay, N.Y./Baldwinsville) gave Lycoming the win.

In the second set, Hartwick took a 13-11 lead before the Warriors rolled off six points. Hartwick didn't go away, though, tying the set at 21 and 23 before freshman
Elle Jednorski (Forest Hill, Md./Fallston) and senior
Catherine Burger (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) combined on a block and Titus converted a kill to give Lycoming the 25-23 win.

Lycoming had four match points in the third set, but Hartwick was able to score three straight points to finish off a 29-27 win. The Warriors responded, though, as Ball gave Lycoming a 7-1 lead with five straight kills. Titus added two more aces to give Lycoming a 10-2 lead. Taylor Johnsonbaugh (Altoona, Pa./Bishop Guilfoyle) ended the set by finding the floor with her second kill of the night.

Titus finished with 12 kills, three aces and four digs and McDevitt posted 10 kills and three blocks. Sophomore
Lilly Singleton (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) finished with nine kills, two aces, two blocks and three digs and Jednorski posted six kills and five blocks. Ball, in one set, posted three kills and five aces. Burger finished with 38 assists and a career-high five blocks and Heper posted 22 digs.

Rosa Maun led the Hawks with 12 kills and two blocks. Katie Boak finished with 22 digs and Paige Bailey posted four aces. Nicole Wyse also added three blocks.

The Warriors wrap up the Hartwick Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 16, facing Baldwin Wallace at 11 a.m. and Penn State Abington at 3 p.m.
