Warriors roll past Knights, 18-8

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Sophomore Kelly McGinniss (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) posted six goals, including the 100th of her career, and freshman Hailey Kimble (Corning, N.Y./Corning-Painted Post) added a career-high five, as the Lycoming College women's lacrosse team scored the first 10 goals of the game and never looked back in an 18-8 MAC Commonwealth win over Arcadia University on Saturday afternoon, April 8.
 
The Warrior offense fired 36 shots in the game, connecting on half of them, with McGinniss and Kimble leading the way in goals while also adding an assist each. Junior Jordan Lazarich (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) added four goals and an assist, freshman Kayla DiJoseph (Turnersville, N.J./Washington Township) added two scores and senior Leanne Shaw (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) added three assists.
 
Lycoming (6-4 overall, 2-1 MAC Commonwealth) started the game with 10 goals in the first 18 minutes, as five different players scored during the run, with McGinniss leading the way with four scores. Arcadia (5-5 overall, 0-3 MAC Commonwealth) finally ended the run when Erin Misner scored with 10:44 left and Arcadia scored three of the last five goals in the half to take a 12-3 lead into halftime.
 
In the second half, the Knights continued to work back into the game, scoring four goals in the first five minutes to make it 13-7. Lazarich ended Arcadia's rally with a pair of goals, as Lycoming took back over, getting it back to a 10-goal lead when Kimble scored with 8:25 left.
 
McGinniss became the 13th player in school history to reach 100 career goals with her first of six, while her eight draw controls give her 193 in her career, just three shy of second in school history.
  Sophomore Kim Rutherford (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) finished with five ground balls and caused two turnovers. Freshman Natalie Schroeder (Edgewater, Md./Annapolis) added three ground balls and senior Victoria Siebecker (Annville, Pa./Annville-Cleona) also had three ground balls and a caused turnover.
 
Misner led the Knights with five goals and Shannon Ryan posted a goal, three assists, four ground balls and five draw controls. Nicole Hutson also had two goals and an assist.
 
In net, senior Nicole Gerling (Millstone Township, N.J./Allentown) (6-4) stopped five shots in 52 minutes and senior Casey Martindale (Davidsonville, Md./Archbishop Spalding) stopped three shots in the final moments. Liz Stierle finished with four stops for the Knights and Veandre Selby stopped 10 shots.
 
The Warriors get back on the field on Thursday, April 13, when they head to Lebanon Valley for another important MAC Commonwealth game at 4 p.m.
