Fricke finishes first day at MACs in 11th

HERSHEY, Pa. – With an identical 47 on both the front and back nine, junior Hailey Fricke (Denver, Pa./Garden Spot) finished the first day of the MAC Women's Golf Championship in a three-way tie for 11th place at the par-71, 5,826-yard Hershey Country Club East Course on Saturday, April 22.

Fricke's score of 94 leaves her in position to earn all-conference honors for the second year in a row after she finished fifth as a sophomore with a two-day score of 183. The top five slots at the championship earn first-team all-conference honors, with slot 6-10 taking second-team honors and 11-15 honorable mention.

Fricke is just one stroke outside the top 10, where Eastern's Jaclyn DeAngelo sits in 10th with a 93, while Kendyl Nethercott of Manhattanville is holding onto fifth place after a first-round 89, five strokes ahead of Fricke. Emily Gilbert of Alvernia leads the field after a first-round 77.

Fricke will look to move up the leaderboard during the second round of the MAC Championships, which kick off on Sunday, April 23, at 8 a.m.
