ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Sophomore
Kelly McGinniss (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) led the Lycoming College women's lacrosse team with three goals and an assist in its season opener on Sunday afternoon, March 5, but RIT finished the game with five straight goals to post a 14-7 non-conference win at the RIT Turf Field.

Down by four goals 10 minutes into the second half, the Warriors (0-1 overall) rallied, with freshman
Hailey Kimble (Corning, N.Y./Corning-Painted Post) scoring a pair of goals in a three-minute span to close within two goals at 9-7 with 12:18 left.

The Tigers (1-1 overall) scored the game's last five goals, with Sydney DaCosta starting the run with a score with 11:52 left in the half, less than 30 seconds after Kimble's second goal.

Early in the game, the Warriors were able to stay close thanks to McGinniss, who scored two goals in the first 10 minutes and added an assist on a goal by freshman
Natalie Schroeder (Edgewater, Md./Annapolis) to make it 4-3 with 8:52 left. McGinniss added another score with a free-position shot with 44 seconds left in the first half to make it 5-4, but RIT responded with a man-up goal with seven seconds left.

The Tigers started the second half with a 3-1 run in the first 10 minutes, setting up Lycoming's comeback attempt.

McGinniss also posted three caused turnovers and five draw controls. Junior
Jordan Lazarich (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) finished the game with a goal, an assist, three caused turnovers and three groundballs. Freshman
Alexis Tchou (Mount Airy, Md./Urbana) added four groundballs and two caused turnovers, as RIT was forced into 21 turnovers in the game.

Emily Livecchi led the Tigers with four goals and two assists and both Sammy Ward and Sydney DaCosta posted three goals and an assist. DaCosta finished with five groundballs and Ward had four. Megan Schmauder led the team with three caused turnovers and Alanna Fallone added two.

Rebekah Snitkoff (1-1) earned the win while making five saves, as Lycoming took 21 shots. Senior
Nicole Gerling (Millstone Township, N.J./Allentown) (0-1) made eight saves off 25 RIT shots.

The Warriors will open their home slate on Wednesday, March 8, when they host Elmira College at 4 p.m. at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.
