WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Freshman
Kayla Kline (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg) extended her hitting streak to 13 games thanks to a sixth-inning infield single in the second game to lead the Lycoming College softball team, but Hood College posted a 3-2 win in the first game and an 8-0 win in the second game in a MAC Commonwealth doubleheader sweep on Wednesday afternoon, March 29, at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.

Kline had three hits during the doubleheader, while her hitting streak is now the fourth-longest in program history, four games shy of the school record of 17.

The Warriors (7-6 overall, 0-4 MAC Commonwealth) posted eighth hits in the first game of the doubleheader, but Hood (11-6 overall, 2-2 MAC Commonwealth) was able to score three runs off five hits to hold off the Warriors, 3-2.

The Warriors got on the board in the first inning, as Kline reached on a single when her ball hit to the right side hit junior
Ashley Schoenstadt (Gap, Pa./Pequea Valley). Senior
Morgan Kunes (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) followed with a double down the right field line, the 24
th of her career, as Kline scored from first base.

Hood tied the game with three singles in the third inning and added two in the fourth inning, as Shelby Alcorn singled in a run before coming around to score to key the inning.

Lycoming closed within a run in the fifth, as freshman
Madison Brown (McElhattan, Pa./Central Mountain) led off with a double before Schoenstadt singled to score the run. Kline also followed with a single to move Schoenstadt to second with two outs, but a popup ended the frame.

Hood's Kayli Paugh retired the last six batters she faced to hang on for the win, finishing with a complete-game win, allowing eight hits, two walks and two runs. She struck out eight. Junior
Rachael Shady (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) (4-4) allowed five hits, three runs and five walks, in the loss. She struck out four.

Schoenstadt went 2-for-2 with a RBI and Kline went 2-for-3 with a run to lead Lycoming.

In the second game, Hood's Sophia Leamon threw a two-hitter and Roo Saglimbeni had four hits and three runs to help the Blazers to an 8-0 six-inning win.

Saglimbeni and Leamon each homered in the second inning before scoring five runs in the third inning. In the sixth, they added a final run to earn the run-rule shortened win. The Warriors rallied in the bottom of the sixth, with Schoenstadt reaching on an error before Kline hit an infield single and Kunes was hit by a pitch to load the bases. However, a groundout ended the game.

Leamon finished 3-for-4 with a homer, two runs and two RBI and Shelby Alcorn added three hits and a RBI. Junior
Samantha Fischer (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) led the Warriors, going 1-for-2, with a double.

Leamon struck out two and walked one in six innings. Freshman
Hannah Boop (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg) (2-2) took the loss, allowing five hits, five runs and two walks in 2 1/3 innings.

The Warriors get back in action on Saturday, April 1, when they host Alvernia in MAC Commonwealth action at the Shangraw Athletic Complex. The doubleheader is set for a 1 p.m. first pitch.
