ALLENTOWN, Pa. – A 20-point run to start the second quarter and 19 points and eight rebounds from sophomore
Kayla Kline (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg Area) helped the Lycoming College women's basketball team post an 81-52 win over the University of Valley Forge to open the Scotty Wood Tournament on Friday afternoon, Nov. 17, at Memorial Hall on the campus of Muhlenberg College.

Three Warriors finished in double figures led by Kline's 19 points off 7-of-12 shooting from the floor, as senior
Shelby Mueller (Collegeville, Pa./Spring-Ford) added 13 points, six rebounds and two steals and sophomore
Akilah McFadden (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg)( added 11 points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Lycoming shot 48 percent (30-of-62) from the field and added 29 bench points and finished with a 38-18 lead on points off turnovers.

The 20 straight points between the first and second quarters helped Lycoming take a 15-point lead into the break at 36-21, as the team shot 46 percent from the field while holding the Patriots to under 30 percent.

Lycoming used an 8-2 run early in the first quarter to take an 8-5 lead after back-to-back transition buckets from McFadden, the second coming with 6:46 left. The Patriots responded with a 12-3 run to take a 17-11 lead before two free throws from Kline with 20 seconds left in the quarter ended the run.

The free throws from Kline helped change the momentum, as the Warriors started the second quarter with 18 straight points, as Lycoming completed the 20-0 run with another transition layup from McFadden. Kline led the run with six points while Mueller and junior
Becca Painter (Elverson, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) each had four points.

Mueller and Kline each posted nine points in the half, with Mueller adding five rebounds and two steals to pace the team.

The Patriots cut the lead down to 10 points midway through the third quarter, but weren't able to get the lead back into single digits, as a free throw from senior
Haley Sipple (Boothwyn, Pa./Chichester) was followed by a 3-pointer Painter to start a seven-point run from the Warriors, as they held a 57-41 lead heading into the final 10 minutes.

In the fourth quarter, Lycoming added 24 points to win the game running away from the Patriots, who finished 19-5 in 2016-17. The Warriors used a 14-3 run to take a 73-46 lead with 4:02 left off back-to-back layups from sophomore
Morgan Mader (Cresco, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) and were able to expand that lead to 29 by the final horn.

Mader finished with nine points off the bench for the second straight game and Painter added seven points. Sipple led the team with a career-high five assists to go with six rebounds.

Jhanel Brown led the Patriots with 13 points and eight rebounds and Bailey Mayforth added 11 points and five rebounds. Natalie Cortez finished with seven points and eight assists.

The Warriors get back on the court on Saturday, Nov. 18, when they wrap up their time at the Scotty Wood Tournament in the championship game either against Notre Dame (Md.) at 1 p.m. or Muhlenberg at 6 p.m.
