Emily Hepner (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) had 57 digs in two matches to lead the Lycoming College volleyball team to a sweep on the first night of the Lycoming College Tip-Off Tournament, beating Alfred State, 3-1 (25-11, 16-25, 25-22, 25-18) and SUNY Canton, 3-2 (19-25, 25-19, 25-5, 25-27, 15-12), on Friday night, Oct. 6, at Lamade Gym.

Morris posted 33 assists, 18 digs and five kills and Hepner posted a career-high 38 digs to lead a tough defensive effort that helped Lycoming (11-9 overall) gut past SUNY Canton (5-14 overall) in a five-set nightcap match.

Sophomore
Lilly Singleton (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) added 14 kills, eight digs, two aces and a block and freshman
Kiannah Titus (Clay, N.Y./Baldwinsville) added 12 kills and four digs. Freshman
Elle Jednorski (Forest Hill, Md./Fallston) added nine kills, two aces and two blocks and freshman
Emily Konopka (Wrightstown, N.J./Northern Burlington Regional) added six kills and two blocks.

The Warriors won the third set with a hot-hitting, solid defensive effort, posting a .385 hitting percentage and holding Canton to -.147, posting a 25-5 win, the largest margin of victory for the team since beating Hood, 25-3 in 2013.

After a hard-fought fourth set was won by the Roos after two Lycoming match points, the Warriors built an 8-4 lead in the second set and held off a late rally, with Konopka finding the back corner for the final kill in the 15-12 win.

Melissa McMaster notched 14 kills and three blocks and Shea Norton added eight kills, 12 digs and five blocks. Peyton Robinson posted 33 assists and 15 digs and Jenna Roat compiled 24 digs and three aces.

In the opening match, Morris posted 19 assists, 10 digs and six kills and Hepner finished with 19 digs as Lycoming posted a 3-1 (25-11, 16-25, 25-22, 25-18) win over Alfred State.

Singleton added 13 kills and eight digs to lead the offense and Titus posted 10 kills and two aces. Jednorski finished with four aces and two blocks and sophomore
Alysa McDevitt (Warminster, Pa./Archbishop Wood) finished with seven kills.

Kiara Perkins led the Pioneers (5-9 overall) with 12 kills and eight digs and Bryanna Godfrey finished with 11 kills, 16 digs and two aces. Mya Van Duyne finished with three kills and four blocks and Morgan Hungerford posted seven kills and two blocks. Valerie Intini also added 14 digs and four aces.

The Warriors hit .500 in the first set (10-1-18) en route to a 25-11 win before struggling with 11 errors in the second set. The Warriors rebounded in the third and fourth sets by slamming down 29 kills en route to the wins.

The Warriors wrap up the Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday, Oct. 7, facing off with Penn State Behrend at 10 a.m. and Misericordia at 12 p.m.
