Warriors wrap up historic regular season

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Junior defender Sainclair Tueno (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blair) netted two first-half goals to lead the Lycoming College men's soccer team to a 3-0 win over Hood College in a MAC Commonwealth match on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 28, at the Shangraw Athletic Complex on the Warriors' senior day.

The win for Lycoming (16-2 overall, 7-1 MAC Commonwealth) clinches the best regular season in program history as the most wins in a regular season was previously held by the 1994 squad with 15 wins.

Tueno scored his seventh and eighth goals of the season in the ninth and 42nd minutes. His first came off a cross from senior Kyle Mizell (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) that Tueno headed in and his second off a cross from freshman Jared Moses (Baltimore, Md./McDonogh School), who placed the perfect pass from about 30 yards out into the six-yard box where Tueno fired in his team-leading eighth goal. Tueno's eight goals are third most in the conference.

The Warriors added another goal in the 75th minute when freshman Alex Henry (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) drew a foul in the 18-yard box and he netted his third goal of the season on a penalty kick.

Lycoming outshot Hood (8-9-1 overall, 2-5-1 MAC Commonwealth), 26-10, including a 16-3 advantage in the first half.

Junior goalkeeper Chris Solecki (Hainesport, N.J./Lenape) made three saves for the win in the first 79 minutes while sophomores Caleb Herrin (Fredericksburg, Va./Massaponax) and Ryan Litterer (Colonia, N.J./Colonia) each made a save in the final 11 minutes. Hood's Danny Castillo made three saves in over 77 minutes of action while Victor Muleki played nearly 13 minutes of scoreless action.

The Warriors, the No. 2 seed in the upcoming MAC Commonwealth playoffs, return to the field on Wednesday, Nov. 1, at 2 p.m. when they host Lebanon Valley, the third seed, in the MAC Commonwealth semifinals at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.
