Alysa McDevitt (Warminster, Pa./Archbishop Wood) led the Lycoming College volleyball team with 20 kills and five blocks and freshman
Elle Jednorski (Forest Hill, Md./Fallston) added 19 kills and six blocks as Lycoming split a pair of matches at the Alfred Crossover Tournament, beating Alfred State, 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-18) and falling to Lynchburg, 3-2 (25-21, 23-25, 26-24, 24-26, 15-12) at the Orvis Activities Center on Friday night, Oct. 13.

Sophomore
Lilly Singleton (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) led the Warriors with eight kills and four digs against Alfred State (5-13 overall), as the Warriors hit .312 in the sweep. McDevitt added seven kills and two blocks, hitting .667, and Jednorski had six kills and two blocks.

The Warriors (13-13 overall) notched 38 kills and were able to force 17 Alfred State errors. Junior
Emily Hepner (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) added 14 digs to lead the defense. Sophomore
Emily Morris (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem North) posted 16 assists and four digs and senior
Catherine Burger (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) added 15 assists and four kills.

In the first set against Alfred State, the Warriors jumped out to an 8-4 lead and held on for a 25-18 win. In the second set, the Warriors fell down 11-8 before scoring six straight points. The Pioneers came back for a 23-21 lead, but Lycoming scored three straight points, with a tough attack from Jednorski helping the team take the lead and hold on for a 25-23 lead. Lycoming broke open the third set, using a 9-4 run to take a 21-13 lead before holding on for the 25-18 win.

Bryanna Godfrey led the Pioneers with 15 kills and nine digs and Kiara Perkins posted 11 kills. Sarah Raichlin notched 17 assists and six digs.

Jednorski led the Warriors with 13 kills and four blocks and McDevitt added 11 kills and three blocks against Lynchburg, but the Hornets used a fifth-set rally to take the 3-2 win.

Molly Ball (Sayre, Pa./Sayre) added six kills, three digs and three blocks. Freshman
Emily Konopka (Wrightstown, N.J./Northern Burlington Regional) added five kills and two blocks.

After dropping the first set to the Hornets (11-5 overall), 25-21, the Warriors came back from an 11-4 deficit to tie the set at 23 before a pair of kills from McDevitt gave Lycoming the win. In the third set, the Warriors took a 7-3 lead before Lynchburg came back to take a 21-17 lead. The Warriors roared back and tied it at 24 with a pair of kills from Jednorski, but the Hornets were able to clinch a 26-24 win.

Lycoming got its revenge in the fourth set, overcoming a match point with a kill from Singleton before she got an ace and Jednorski and Ball combined for a block to clinch the set, 26-24.

In the fifth set, the Warriors jumped out to an 11-8 lead before the Hornets won seven of the last eight points to take the 15-12 win.

Burger posted 23 assists and eight digs and Morris finished with 21 assists. Sophomore
Lindsay Beck (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown Community) led the defense with 14 digs.

Lynchburg was led by 13 kills from Jalissa Linz and 12 from Mesa Wells. Lynn Walsh posted 27 assists and six aces and Lauren Stanford posted 19 digs.

The Warriors get back on the court with the final day of the Alfred Crossover on Saturday, Oct. 14, when they face Houghton at 12 p.m. and Alfred University at 4 p.m.
