Warriors fall to Cougars in double OT

DALLAS, Pa. – Junior Jordan Logan (Oxford, Pa./Oxford Area) scored his team-leading sixth goal of the year, but the Lycoming College men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 double-overtime decision to MAC Freedom power Misericordia on Wednesday night, Sept. 28, at Mangelsdorf Field.

Logan's goal came off a header in the 63rd minute to tie the game at one, as the goal eventually sent the game to overtime. Lycoming (5-3-2 overall), playing its third overtime game of the season, held a 14-10 advantage in shots, but Misericordia (5-3-1 overall) got the final shot of the game in the second minute of the second overtime, as Matt Norcini scored after finding the ball in a scramble in front of the net after a throw-in.

David Malaquias scored in the first half for the Cougars.

Both teams had several other chances to score, with Lycoming taking nine corner kicks in the game and Misericordia posting 10.

Sophomore goalkeeper Chris Solecki (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape) made three saves for the Warriors and Matt Smith also made three stops for the Cougars.

The Warriors get back on the field on Saturday, Oct. 1, when they host Arcadia in their MAC Commonwealth opener at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.
