GRANTHAM, Pa. – Freshman
Alysa McDevitt (Warminster, Pa./Archbishop Wood) led the Lycoming College volleyball team with eight kills and two blocks, but a hot-hitting Messiah College earned a 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-15) win in MAC Commonwealth action at Brubaker Auditorium on Wednesday, Sept. 21.

Sophomore
Emily Hepner (Leesport, Pa./North Schuylkill) finished with nine digs and senior
Lauren Fink (York, Pa./West York) finished with three kills, an ace and eight digs for the Warriors (8-7 overall, 1-1 MAC Commonwealth). Sophomore
Cheyenne Altland (East Berlin, Pa./Delone Catholic) added five kills and two aces and freshman
Emily Morris (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem North) finished with four kills, 19 assists and five digs.

Messiah (11-1 overall, 2-1 MAC Commonwealth), which hit .411 (46-7-95) in the match with eight blocks, was paced by 13 kills from Jane Underman and eight kills each from Mary Underman and Hannah Baumer. Brooke Gallagher had a match-high 37 assists and Taylor Hook and Baumer each had four blocks. Kristen Douglas also added seven kills and seven digs.

The Warriors held a 12-7 lead in the first set after an ace from Fink, but the Falcons fought back with a 10-2 run to take control en route to a 25-19 win. Lycoming held a 14-11 lead in the second set and were ahead by two at 16-14 after a kill by McDevitt before the Falcons closed the set on an 11-4 run. The Falcons closed out the match with a 12-5 run to win the third set, 25-15.

The Warriors get back on the field on Saturday, Sept. 24, when they host Hood (11 a.m.) and Stevenson (3 p.m.) in MAC Commonwealth action at Lamade Gym.
