BROCKPORT, N.Y. – Sophomore
Cheyenne Altland (East Berlin, Pa./Delone Catholic) notched 13 kills in both matches to lead the Lycoming College volleyball team, but the team fell to Brockport, 3-1, and Medaille, 3-2, to wrap up its time at the Brockport Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 17.

Altland posted 13 kills and hit .379 against Brockport (11-2 overall) before posting 13 more and hitting .407 against Medaille (3-9 overall).

The Warriors (8-6 overall) stayed in the match with Brockport thanks to a defensive effort that posted 86 digs, but the Golden Eagles were able to notch a 25-19, 26-28, 25-20, 25-11 win.

Altland led Lycoming with 13 kills and five digs in the match, while senior
Kristine Jahn (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) added 11 kills and six digs. Senior
Lauren Fink (York, Pa./West York) added nine kills and 25 digs and freshman
Alysa McDevitt (Warminster, Pa./Archbishop Wood) finished with five kills and three blocks.

Sophomore
Emily Hepner (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) finished with 23 digs and freshman
Emily Morris (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem North) added 16 assists, 10 digs and four aces. Junior
Catherine Burger (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) finished with 22 assists and an ace.

Brockport was led by 15 kills and 19 digs from Sam Holdredge, as four players finished with 10 kills and three with 19 digs. Noelle Poloncarz added 45 assists and 17 digs.

In a tightly-contested second match, the Warriors narrowly fell in the fifth-set to Medaille, 15-13, as their comeback attempt was thwarted, 3-2 (25-21, 22-25, 25-18, 25-27, 15-13).

Altland again led the Warriors with 13 kills and four blocks, while McDevitt added seven kills and two blocks and Fink added five kills and 14 digs. Morris posted 36 assists, 16 digs, two aces and five kills for her third career double-double. Senior
Maggie Slawson (Armagh, Pa./United) added eight kills, 13 digs and two blocks.

Tayler Whitman (New Cumberland, Pa./Cedar Cliff) posted four blocks and freshman
Katie Hausknecht (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) added two blocks.

Medaille was led by 18 kills and 22 digs from Amanda Ruszczyk and Lydia Penberthy finished with 16 kills and 14 digs. Morgan Freeman finished with 50 assists and nine digs and Jennifer Stebbins posted 38 digs and two aces.

The Warriors get back on the court on Wednesday, Sept. 21, when they head to Messiah College for a 7 p.m. MAC Commonwealth match.
