GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – Senior
Amanda Wisolmerski (Florham Park, N.J./Hanover Park) scored her first goal since 2014 off a free kick outside the box for the Lycoming College women's soccer team, as it earned a 1-1 draw with Colonial States Athletic Conference frontrunner Gwynedd Mercy on Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Gwynedd Mercy Athletic Complex.
After a scoreless first half, the two teams provided late fireworks, with Wisolmerski's goal coming in the 77
th minute to give the Warriors (2-2-1 overall) the lead. However, the Griffins (1-1-2 overall) responded in the 82
nd minute off a goal from Lexi Palm.
In overtime, the Warriors pushed aggressively, taking five shots in the extra 20 minutes while allowing just one, but neither team could find the game-winner.
Junior
Joelle Winey (Mifflintown, Pa./Juniata) finished with five saves for the Warriors, while Kailey Hopkins stopped eight shots for the Griffins, who were predicted to finish second in the CSAC.
The Warriors get back on the field on Wednesday, Sept. 13, when they head to Mount Aloysius for a 4 p.m. game.
