ST. DAVIDS, Pa. – First-half goals by both Eastern University and the Lycoming College men's soccer team stood the rest of the distance in Saturday, Sept. 10's showdown between the two 2015 Middle Atlantic Conference champions, as the teams finished in a 1-1 draw at Olson Field.
Â
Eastern (2-0-1 overall), the 2015 MAC Freedom champions, got on the board off a free kick and a scramble in the box left Cade Harmon with a goal in the 20
th minute. Just five minutes later, the Warriors, the defending MAC Commonwealth champs, equaled the score, as a deflected cross found the foot of freshman
Daniel Anwanwan (Manassas, Va./Stonewall Jackson), who found the back of the net.
Â
The Warriors (1-2-1 overall) allowed just four shots the rest of the game, allowing just six in the entire 110 minutes, while peppering Eastern's net with 19, but neither team could get the equalizer. Lycoming added 10 corner kicks and allowed just three.
Â
Sophomore goalkeeper
Chris Solecki (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape) finished with three saves in the draw for the Warriors, while Quentin Keibler hauled in five Warrior shots in the draw.
Â
The Warriors wrap up a difficult weekend in the Philadelphia area on Sunday, Sept. 11, when they travel to sixth-ranked Haverford for a 2 p.m. game.
