Fricke tied for fourth at MAC Women’s Golf Championships

HERSHEY, Pa. – Lycoming College sophomore Hailey Fricke (Denver, Pa./Garden Spot) used a first-round 91 to move into a four-way tie for fourth place after the first round of the Middle Atlantic Conference Women's Golf Championship at the par-71, 5,826-yard Hershey Country Club East Course on Sunday afternoon, April 24.

Fricke, the lone competitor for the Warriors at the event, shot a 43 on the back nine to finish her round, which was tied for the best in the field with Lebanon Valley's Megan Kimmel, who is tied for the tournament lead with Alvernia's Emily Gilbert after an opening round 87.

Fricke shot a 48 on the front nine to post her first round of 91, as she is just one stroke behind Stevenson's Emily Haas for third place and four off the lead. Fricke's round started with a trio of double bogeys, but she rounded out the front nine with a par on No. 8, which set up a back nine where she had three pars and five bogeys.

The round of 91 is tied for Fricke's second-lowest of the season, as she posted a career-best 89 at the Dickinson Invitational. Playing with the men's team in her first four rounds of the season, the Hershey Country Club East Course plays nearly 300 yards shorter than any other course that Fricke has played this year.

The tournament concludes with one more 18-hole round at the Hershey Country Club's East Course at 8 a.m. on Monday, April 25.
