Savannah Fox (Port Deposit, Md./Perryville) became the 16
th player in the Lycoming College women's lacrosse program's history to reach 100 career points with three goals and senior
Meghenn Jackson (Arnold, Md./Broadneck/Anne Arundel C.C.) added six goals to lead Lycoming past Rutgers-Camden, 17-7, in non-conference action at the Shangraw Athletic Complex on Saturday afternoon, March 5.
Fox scored the first two goals of the game for the Warriors (2-0 overall) to reach the milestone, as she now has 79 career goals and 22 assists.
Sophomore
Jordan Lazarich (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) added three goals and three assists and freshman
Kelly McGinniss (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) also added a hat trick. Junior
Leanne Shaw (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) rounded out the scoring with two goals, while senior
Kelsey Harshman (Hamilton Square, N.J./Steinert) added two assists.
Fox got the Warriors rolling on a run of four goals to open the game with a 6-1 run that occupied the first 15 minutes of the first half. The Scarlet Raptors (0-1 overall) scored four of the next six goals, though, to pull within 9-5 with 3:20 remaining in the period.
Jackson got the Warriors rolling again in response, getting a pass from Lazarich just inside the arc and going left corner with it with 2:51 left in the half to send the Warriors into the break with a 10-5 lead. However, Lycoming didn't relent in the second half, scoring six goals in the periods first 4:19 to take control with a 15-5 lead. After a Rutgers-Camden goal, the Warriors responded with two more to ensure that the 10-goal running clock was in effect for the game's final 18 minutes.
Lycoming finished with a 22-17 advantage in ground balls, led by four from Shaw and three from Lazarich. McGinniss grabbed six draw controls and Lazarich added four. Jackson and freshman
Olivia Lawler (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) each added two caused turnovers.
Cecilia Gross led the Raptors with two goals, an assist and two groudballs and Nicole Martin added two goals, seven draw controls and three groundballs. Megan Everett caused two turnovers and Holly Cusick also added a goal and three groundballs.
Junior goalkeeper
Nicole Gerling (Millstone Township, N.J./Allentown) (2-0) had a fine game in net, posting seven saves, five ground balls and three caused turnovers. Alexa Rocks (0-1) stopped 10 shots in net for the Raptors.
The Warriors get back on the field on Tuesday, March 8, when they host Hiram College at 1 p.m. at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.
