CORNING, N.Y. – With four players that finished with hat tricks, the Lycoming College women's lacrosse team overpowered Elmira College, 21-9, on Sunday afternoon, March 13, at Corning Community College, as Lycoming won its fifth straight game to open the 2016 season.

The Warriors (5-0 overall) were once again led by the duo of sophomore
Jordan Lazarich (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) and senior
Meghenn Jackson (Arnold, Md./Broadneck/Anne Arundel C.C.), as both players finished with nine points. Lazarich posted five goals and four assists to go with six draw controls and Jackson posted four goals and five assists to go with three caused turnovers and five ground balls.

Senior
Savannah Fox (Port Deposit, Md./Perryville) posted four goals and two assists and freshman
Kelly McGinniss (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) added three goals, an assist, seven draw controls and two caused turnovers for her fifth straight three-goal game.

Lycoming took control of the game in the first 10 minutes, scoring the first six goals of the game, with Jackson keying the run with two goals and two assists. After each team traded four goals in the next 10 minutes, Elmira (0-1 overall) scored three goals in a span of 1:05 to make it 10-7 with 4:36 left in the first half. In the final minute, though, Fox and Jackson each scored to give Lycoming a 13-7 lead at the break.

In the second half, each team scored in the first two minutes before Lycoming posted seven goals in a row to take a 21-8 lead before Kara Yakel scored with 45 seconds left for the Eagles.

Senior
Kelsey Harshman (Hamilton Square, N.J./Steinert) posted two goals and an assist and junior
Leanne Shaw (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) added two goals and two ground balls.

Defensively, both senior
Erica Spero (Chantilly, Va./Chantilly) and freshman
Olivia Lawler (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) each posted two ground balls.

Moorea Spoljaric led the Eagles with five goals, an assist, eight draw controls, four ground balls and three caused turnovers. Laura Powell added four caused turnovers and Hayley Baker posted two goals and an assist.

In net, junior
Nicole Gerling (Millstone Township, N.J./Allentown) improved to 5-0 on the season after posting five saves, four ground balls and two caused turnovers. Payton Rusin (0-1) made eight stops for Elmira.

Lycoming forced Elmira into 22 turnovers and also added 17 of the game's 32 draw controls while also picking up 21 ground balls.

Jackson finished the game with 95 goals, as she moved within five of becoming the 11
th player in school history to score 100 in a career, while with 16 assists this season, both Jackson and Lazarich are already within the top 15 in program history. Fox's four goals give her 86 in her career, which is 13
th in program history.

The Warriors get back on the field on Wednesday, March 16, when they head to King's (Pa.) for a 5 p.m. non-conference game.
