OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Senior
Chelsea Henderson (Yonkers, N.Y./Yonkers) led the Lycoming College women's basketball team with 17 points, but Lycoming fell victim to a solid performance from Stevenson University, falling 71-58, in a battle of second-place MAC Commonwealth teams on Monday night, Feb. 1, in Owings Mills Gym.

The loss drops the Warriors record to 12-8 overall and 7-4 in the MAC Commonwealth while the Mustangs improve to 11-7 overall and 8-3 in conference.

Henderson finished 7-of-10 from the field to go along with two rebounds, three assists, four steals, and a block which tied her with Julie Antonelli (2010-14) for 10
th most in Lycoming's career record book. Sophomore
Shelby Mueller (Collegeville, Pa./Spring-Ford) finished with 16 points on 6-for-9 shooting, seven rebounds, and two steals. Junior
Nicole Calella (Sandyston, N.J./Kittatinny Regional) finished with six points, five rebounds, and five assists and senior
Olivia Manges (York, Pa./West York) finished with eight points, making her the 14
th player in program history to surpass 800 career points. Sophomore
Ashlee Ruzicka (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown Area) added a career-high tying six points.

After the Mustangs jumped out to an early 10-2 lead, the Warriors turned up the intensity, scoring seven straight points to cut their deficit to one point and held Stevenson without a field goal for nearly five minutes. The Mustangs came back with seven straight points of their own to push the lead back to 17-9 before the Warriors pulled within 20-17 at the end of the first quarter.

After the Mustangs pulled away in the second, the Warriors scored six straight points to tie the game at 27 late in the quarter. The Warriors held the Mustangs to just 12 points, but trailed 32-29 at the half after a late 3-pointer by Sara Tarbert.

The Warriors shot 13-for-23 (.565) in the first half and scored 18 of their 29 points in the paint.

In the third quarter, the Warriors used seven straight points to take a 36-35 lead. However, the Mustangs responded by ending the quarter on a 19-6 run to take a 54-42 lead into the fourth quarter. Lycoming was unable to get closer than nine points the rest of the way.

As a team, the Warriors shot 24-for-50 (.480) from the field, forced 17 turnovers, and came away with nine steals.

Tarbert finished with a game-high 24 points on 8-for-12 shooting, including 13 points in the third quarter, to go along with eight rebounds, four assists, three steals, and two blocks and senior Stephanie Martinez scored 13 points to lead the Mustangs.

The Warriors will return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 3, at 6 p.m. as they will host Messiah in a crucial MAC Commonwealth matchup.?
