WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. -Â After posting a 12-point win over Hiram in the first round of the Hoops for Hounds Tournament, the Lycoming College women's basketball team will play host to William Paterson in the championship game of the tournament at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 29, at Lamade Gym.
The Warriors (8-3 overall) had five players finish in double figures in its opening round 82-70 win over Hiram. Freshman
Akilah McFadden and junior
Shelby Mueller each scored 16 points to lead the team and freshman
Kayla Kline added a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
The Pioneers (6-5 overall) overcame a slow start to post a 72-64 win over Rosemont in the opening round of the tournament, with sophomore Julie Rovito leading the way with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
Warrior Notes
• The Warriors are 3-4 all-time in the Hoops for Hounds Tournament championship game. They won the tournament in 2015 with a 50-48 win over York (Pa.).
• The Warriors have scored 80 points in back-to-back games for the first time since a pair of wins over Misericordia and Penn State Hazleton in 2007.
• Lycoming is looking to improve to 6-0 inside Lamade Gym for the first time since the 2004-05 season.
