WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - After winning its ninth straight season opener, the Lycoming College men's basketball team will look to keep its perfect record when Penn State Schuylkill comes to Lamade Gym for a 6 p.m. start to open the Dutch Burch Tip-Off on Friday, Nov. 18.
The winner of the game will face the winner of the other first round game, Haverford vs. Western Connecticut State, at 8 p.m. on Friday. The two losers will face each other in the consolation game.
The Warriors (1-0 overall) are coming off an 80-66 win over Fredonia, as only one player finished in double figures, but 10 had at least five points. The Lions (1-1 overall) have a 100-67 win over Johnson College and a 110-71 loss to Kutztown on their season record.
Warrior Notes
• The Warriors are 17-1 all-time in the opening round of the Dutch Burch Tip-Off.
• With the win over Fredonia, Lycoming improved to 43-26 (.623) all-time in season openers.
• Senior
David Johnson needs 12 more points to reach 1,200 in his collegiate career. He scored 820 in two years at Mercer County Community College and 353 in one at Lycoming.
• Freshman
Ronald Jefferson is the second Warrior on the roster to post 17 points in their Lycoming debut, joining Johnson, who did it against Penn State Schuylkill in 2015.
• Johnson was named the MVP of the 2015 Dutch Burch Tip-Off after averaging 17.5 points during the team's championship run.
• Senior
Nyk King needs 14 points to reach 700 in his career.
• The Warriors scored 58 percent (47-of-80) of their points off the bench in the opener against Fredonia.
