Warriors fall to Crusaders

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Junior Joelle Winey (Mifflintown, Pa./Juniata) finished with five saves for the Lycoming College women's soccer team, but Alvernia University used an 83rd-minute penalty kick to post a 1-0 MAC Commonwealth win at the Shangraw Athletic Complex on Saturday, Oct. 8.

The Warriors (6-6-2 overall, 0-3 MAC Commonwealth) took eight shots in the game, forcing Jessica Plunkett to make six stops to earn the shutout win for the Crusaders (4-8 overall, 1-1 MAC Commonwealth).
The goal came after a foul in the box set up a penalty kick by Hailey Myers, which she converted. Lycoming pressured after the goal, but couldn't get a shot off in the final seven minutes.

Alvernia held a slim, 9-8, advantage in shots, but Lycoming held a 4-3 lead in corner kicks.

The Warriors get back on the field on Wednesday, Oct. 12, when they head to 14th-ranked Messiah for a 7 p.m. match.
