Jahn reaches milestone as Warriors fall to Hawks

ELMIRA, N.Y. – Senior Kristine Jahn (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) became the 11th player in program history to reach 900 career kills and senior Tayler Whitman (New Cumberland, Pa./Cedar Crest) tied a career high with 15 kills to lead the Lycoming College volleyball team, but Hunter College was able to win three close sets in a 3-1 (25-21, 25-27, 25-22, 25-22) win to open the Elmira College Invitational on Friday night, Oct. 14.
 
Whitman posted 15 kills and hit a healthy .480 to lead the Warriors (13-14 overall) and Jahn added 10 kills and five blocks, as she finished the match with 907 kills in her career.
 
Freshman Alysa McDevitt (Warminster, Pa./Archbishop Wood) added nine kills and five blocks and sophomore Cheyenne Altland (East Berlin, Pa./Delone Catholic) added eight kills and wo blocks. Senior Lauren Fink (York, Pa./West York) added five kills, 11 digs, two blocks and three aces, as she tied Lindsay Artz for third in school history with 211 in her career.
 
Junior Catherine Burger (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) added 30 assists and eight digs and freshman Emily Morris (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem North) posted 12 assists and eight digs. Sophomore Emily Hepner (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) notched a match-high 20 digs.
 
Taylor Kerr-Haiduk led the Hawks (15-9 overall) with 21 kills, 11 digs and seven aces. Miranda Hogan added 12 kills and eight digs and Julia Connolly posted 12 kills, nine digs and six blocks. Samantha Barrett finished with 11 kills and five blocks. Breanna Banske finished with 47 assists and three aces and Haley Trunkett had 17 digs.
 
The Warriors wrap up the Elmira College Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 15, when they face Cortland at 10 a.m. and Elmira at 12 p.m.
