WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – A gritty performance that included 13 kills from senior
Kristine Jahn (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) helped the Lycoming College volleyball team post an important 3-0 (25-16, 25-22, 25-23) win over Arcadia University in MAC Commonwealth action at Lamade Gym on Tuesday night, Oct. 11.

The Warriors (13-13 overall, 3-3 MAC Commonwealth) hit 56 points better than the Knights (9-11 overall, 2-4 MAC Commonwealth), .238-.182, in a battle to stay in the fifth and final MAC Commonwealth Championship slot and also scooped up six more digs (43-37).

Jahn led the team with 13 kills, leaving her three shy of becoming the 12
th player in program history to post 900 career kills, as she hit .391. Sophomore
Cheyenne Altland (East Berlin, Pa./Delone Catholic) added nine kills, senior
Tayler Whitman (New Cumberland, Pa./Cedar Cliff) added six and freshman
Alysa McDevitt (Warminster, Pa./Archbishop Wood) five to go with two blocks. Senior
Lauren Fink (York, Pa./West York) posted four kills, four aces and six digs.

Sophomore
Emily Hepner (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) finished with two aces and 17 digs and junior
Catherine Burger (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) added 23 assists and five digs.

Lycoming jumped out to a 9-2 lead in the first set, with Jan posting two kills on the run and Lycoming never let the Knights back within five points in the set, extending the lead to as many as 10 points at 21-11.

The Warriors fell behind 7-3 in the second set before rallying to take an 11-9 lead thanks to four straight points off the serve of Hepner. The Knights took a 15-13 lead back, but Lycoming responded with an 8-2 run to take a 21-17 run and Lycoming held on for a 25-22 win.

In the final set, the Warriors took an 11-10 lead and never lost it again, although the Knights closed within 22-21 before a sneak attack kill by freshman
Emily Morris (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem North) helped keep Lycoming in control. The Knights closed within 24-23 after Lycoming's first match point, but Jahn ended the match with a hard-hit kill.

Lizzie Joseph led the Knights with 12 kills, hitting .435, while Emily Eng added 11 digs and two aces and Shannon Ryan posted six kills and four blocks. Colleen Stengel finished with 24 assists and seven digs.

The Warriors get back on the court on Friday, Oct. 14, when they head to the Elmira College Invitational, where they will face Hunter at 6 p.m.
