Warriors sweep MAC Crossovers

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – For the fifth time in six years, the Lycoming College volleyball team swept the Middle Atlantic Conference Crossovers, as Lycoming swept Delaware Valley, 3-0 (25-16, 25-13, 25-16), and Wilkes, 3-0 (25-17, 25-13, 25-10), at Lamade Gym on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 1.
 
The Warriors (11-8 overall) forced the Aggies (3-10 overall) to hit -.066 in the first set, scooping up 36 digs and forcing 22 errors in the sweep.
 
Senior Kristine Jahn (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) led the team with six kills, hitting .667, and sophomore Cheyenne Altland (East Berlin, Pa./Delone Catholic) added five kills, six digs and two blocks. Junior Catherine Burger (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) added 20 assists and five digs, sophomore Emily Hepner (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) added nine digs and freshman Alyssa McDevitt (Warminster, Pa./Archbishop Wood) added four blocks. Senior Maggie Slawson (Armagh, Pa./United) added four aces and two kills and freshman Katie Hausknecht (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) also added three blocks.
 
Kayla Bracken led the Aggies with seven kills and Nicole Daigneault added 15 assists and five digs. Kate Woolsey added five kills, eight digs and two blocks.
 
The Warriors hit .346 in the match with Wilkes (8-11 overall), pounding down an average of 11.7 kills per set to post the win over the Colonels.
 
Altland led the Warriors with eight kills and two aces and senior Lauren Fink (York, Pa./West York) added seven kills, 12 digs, four aces and two blocks. McDevitt added six kills and Burger finished with 21 assists, four aces and seven digs. Hepner posted 18 digs and two aces and Slawson added seven digs and an ace.
 
Wilkes was led by five kills from Madison Scarfaro and Jamey Mikovich added eight digs. Alexis Morgan also posted 18 assists and a block.
 
The Warriors knocked down several milestones in the matches, as Burger became the fifth player in program history to post 2,500 assists, Slawson became the 15th player to post 700 kills, Altland crossed 300 kills, and Hepner became the 20th player in program history to post 800 digs.
 
The Warriors get back in action on Monday, Oct. 3, when they head to Lancaster Bible for a 7 p.m. non-conference match.
