Warriors and Wildcats washed out

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Battle for the Lumber between Lycoming College and Penn College was cancelled at the end of the first half on Tuesday, Sept. 29, at the Penn College Athletic Field due to rain and unplayable field conditions. The Warriors led 1-0 at the time the game was called.

Sophomore Abdullahi Abdi (Seattle, Wash./James Garfield) scored the game's lone goal with a third-minute penalty kick. Lycoming (7-1-1 overall) dominated much of the rest of the half, forcing Penn College(5-6 overall) keeper Malcolm Kane to make three diving saves.

However, the heavy rain in the area forced the officials to call the game at the end of the period.

Per NCAA rules, the game will not count because it did not meet the mandatory 70 minutes needed to make a game official. If the game were to be replayed, it would need to be restarted from the beginning. At this time, no makeup date is scheduled.

The Warriors, ranked fifth in the Mid-Atlantic Region, will get back in action on Saturday, Oct. 3, when they host Albright in their MAC Commonwealth opener at 3 p.m.
