Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Jackson scores in seventh straight at FDU-Florham

MADISON, N.J. – Senior Meghenn Jackson (Arnold, Md./Broadneck/Anne Arundel C.C.) scored in her seventh straight game to lead the Lycoming College women's soccer team, but FDU-Florham was able to post a 2-1 win to halt a three-game Lycoming winning streak, on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 26 at Robert Shields Field.

Jackson's score tied the game at one in the 54th minute, as she dribbled around a defender and scored in a one-on-one opportunity, with sophomore Jordan Lazarich (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) earning an assist on the play.

The goal, Jackson's 12th of the year, moved her within three goals of Danielle Curry's school record of 15 goals set in 2004 and moved her into a tie for fourth in the school's single-season record book. The assist gives Lazarich 20 points on the season, as she joined Danielle Curry (2004-05) and Rebekah Shipe (2007-08) as the only players in program history to post 20 points in back-to-back seasons.

The Devils (5-4 overall) took the lead just 80 seconds later, though, as Gabriella Florio scored from 20 yards out on a shot over the goalkeeper and were able to make that stand, even as both teams took five shots in the second half.

FDU-Florham tookt he lead in the 11th minute, as Matissa Salava found the left side of the net on a give by Nicolette Van Duysen.

Freshman goalkeeper Helen Ross (Hellertown, Pa./Saucon Valley) (6-3) stopped six shots for the Warriors and Annie George (5-4) made one save for the Devils to earn the win.

The Warriors get back onto the field on Wednesday, Sept. 30, when they host Penn College in the Battle for the Lumber. Kick-off is set for 3:30 p.m. at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.
