ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Despite taking six more shots than perennial national powerhouse the University of Rochester, the Lycoming College men's soccer team was unable to dent the twine in 110 minutes on Saturday night, Sept. 26, as the two teams battled to a 0-0 double-overtime tie at Fauver Stadium.
The Warrior defense allowed just nine shots in the game, including just one in the 20-minute overtime period, forcing junior goalkeeper
Josh Gildea (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) to make just four saves in the contest while earning his first full shutout of the season and the team's fourth.
Lycoming took 14 corner kicks and allowed none. The Warriors fired 15 shots, including five in the extra period and led by four from sophomore
Jordan Logan (Oxford, Pa./Oxford Area). Rochester keeper Redd Brown stopped four shots to earn the shutout for the Yellowjackets (4-2-2 overall).
The tie ends the team's seven-game winning streak, which is the third-longest in school history. However, it extends the team's unbeaten streak to eight games, tied for the fourth-longest in school history with an eight-game stretch from Oct. 27, 1996-Sept. 17, 1997.
The Warriors get back on the field on Tuesday, Sept. 29, when they head to Penn College for the Battle for the Lumber at 7 p.m.
