Warriors use big second half to down Giants

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – A four-goal second-half helped the Lycoming College men's soccer team recover from an early goal by Keystone College and post a 5-1 non-conference win on Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.

Sophomore Keenthy Yeboah (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blair) finished with two goals and sophomore Abdullahi Abdi (Seattle, Wash./James Garfield) added a goal and an attack to pace the Warrior attach, which fired 28 shots in the game.

Lycoming (6-1 overall) won its sixth straight game by holding Keystone (2-3-1 overall) to one shot in the second half while peppering the Giants with 16.

The Warriors broke a 1-1 halftime tie eight minutes into the second half, as sophomore Danny Tierney (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown Area) delivered a pass in for sophomore Jordan Logan (Oxford, Pa./Oxford), who fired his team-leading seventh goal into the upper right corner.

Lycoming kept the pressure on as freshman Sean McLaughlin (Egg Harbor Township, N.J./Egg Harbor Township) found the upper left corner on a give from Abdi in the 70th minute. Yeboah capped the game with goals in the 79th and 87th minute, with freshman Evan Zewe (Lewistown, Pa./Mifflin County) assisting on the second score.

Keystone broke through in the fourth minute, as Eddy Enowbi fired the ball into the center of the net, but just four minutes later, Abdi converted a penalty kick after a foul in the box to tie the score at one, where it remained the rest of the half.

In net, junior Josh Gildea (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) (5-1) stopped three shots to earn the win. Keystone keeper Adam Zbiciak saved eight shots for Keystone.

The Warriors get back in action on Monday, Sept. 21, when they head to Mount Aloysius for a 4 p.m. non-conference tilt.
