Maguire reaches milestone and Warriors down Raptors, 16-4

CAMDEN, N.J. – Senior Casey Maguire (Egg Harbor Township, N.J./Egg Harbor Township) became the 10th player in school history to post 100 goals in a career, as she notched four scores and added three assists to help a great offensive effort by the Lycoming College women's lacrosse team, which posted a 16-4 win over Rutgers-Camden on Saturday, March 14, at the RUC Community Park.

Maguire reached the milestone with her third score of the game, coming midway through the second half, as Lycoming (4-0 overall) held a 10-goal lead for the game's last 25 minutes.

The Warriors also got seven goals and an assist from junior Meghenn Jackson (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) and three goals from freshman Jordan Lazarich (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park). Jackson caused four turnovers, while both junior Katie Cox (Crownsville, Md./Old Mill) and senior Erin Cieniewicz (Shillington, Pa./Governor Mifflin) each caused three.

Cieniewicz also added four draw controls, while Jackson picked up three and led the team with three ground balls.

The Warriors opened the game with four straight goals, with freshman Jenna Hudson (Fulton, N.Y./G. Ray Bodley) scoring 18 seconds in on an assist from Maguire. Jackson followed three straight goals in the next six minutes, including scoring twice eight seconds apart.

Rutgers-Camden (1-3 overall) scored with 18:49 left, but Lycoming closed the half with six straight goals, with Jackson adding three more and Maguire finding the back of the net twice. The Scarlet Raptors scored two of the first three goals in the second half, but Lazarich scored three straight to start a 5-0 run and keep the contest out of reach.

Cecilia Gross had a goal, three ground balls and two draw controls to lead Rutgers-Camden. Holly Cusick scored a goal, three ground balls, caused two turnovers, and two draw controls.

In net, sophomore Nicole Gerling (Millstone Township, N.J./Allentown) (4-0) stopped eight shots in a great effort for the Warriors, holding the Scarlet Raptors to 2-of-10 on free-position shots. Alexa Rocks (1-3) stopped six shots in the loss for Rutgers-Camden.
