Lapano fires a no-hitter and Warriors sweep again

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Senior Caroline Lapano (Harrisburg, Pa./Trinity) capped off the Lycoming College softball team's trip South by tossing a five-inning no-hitter in a run-rule shortened 13-0 win over Principia on Thursday, March 12, at the North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex. In the earlier game, junior Kristi Weaver (Milton, Pa./Milton Area) threw a three-hit shutout to lead the team past Lycoming past La Roche, 8-0, in six innings.

After a pop out, senior Kali Moeller (Fredericksburg, Va./Chancellor) delivered an RBI single. An error helped junior Elisa Novak (Ambler, Pa./Germantown Academy) reach before Pugh singled and Weaver walked load the bases. After a fielder's choice for the second out, sophomore Kelcie Crabb (Millmont, Pa./Mifflinburg) walked to drive in a run. Lapano followed with a two-RBI single to make it 7-0.

In the fourth inning, the Warriors delivered again, as freshman Sam Fischer (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) led off with a walk before Weaver singled. After a pair of outs, Lapano walked to load the bases for freshman Ashley Schoenstadt (Gap, Pa./Pequea Valley), who delivered an RBI single. An error helped two runners score before sophomore Emma Fredericks (Hackettstown, N.J./Hackettstown) delivered an RBI single to make it 11-0.

In the fifth inning, Lycoming scored a pair more, as Fischer was hit by a pitch. After a flyout, sophomore Morgan Kunes (Beech Creek, Pa./Central Mountain) hit an RBI double. After a walk and a flyout, Schoenstadt delivered an RBI single.
