WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. –
Junior Savannah Fox (Port Deposit, Md./Perryville) notched a career-high nine points and junior Meghenn Jackson (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) added six goals in her debut to lead the Lycoming College women's lacrosse team to a 16-7 season-opening win over Marywood University in non-conference action at the Shangraw Athletic Complex on Friday, Feb. 25.

Fox and Jackson ended up snapping a string of seven straight season-opening losses for the Warriors (1-0 overall), as the team's offense powered up 34 shots. The Warriors won 20 draw controls and finished with just seven turnovers in the first half, plus they held a 29-21 advantage in ground balls against the Pacers (0-2 overall), who had beaten the Warriors, 14-13, in 2014.

Fox got the Warriors on the board with 27:16 left in the first half, scoring unassisted, the first of four goals in the game's first 10 minutes, with both team's scoring twice. The Warriors took the lead for good with 17:18 left, when senior Erin Cieniewicz (Shillington, Pa./Governor Mifflin) found the back of the net on a give by senior Alysha Conley (Camden, Del./Caesar Rodney), making it 3-2. Fox and Jackson both deposited goals in the next two minutes, beginning an 8-2 run that ended the half, with the Warriors scoring three times in the half's final two minutes to close the half with a run of four straight goals.

The Pacers cut the lead to five with the first goal of the second half, but Jackson scored three of the next five goals and the Warriors scored five of the next six to expand their lead to nine goals with 2:54 left. Both teams traded goals in the final 89 seconds, giving the Warriors the win.

Jackson, a two-time Junior College All-American at Anne Arundel Community College, began her career at Lycoming with six goals and six draw controls and Fox posted four goals and five assists, the seventh-most in school history, for her career-high nine points. Senior Casey Maguire (Egg Harbor Township, N.J./Egg Harbor Township) also posted a hat trick, notching three goals, three ground balls and two draw controls. She finished the game with 92 goals, becoming the 11th player in school history to post 90 in a career.

Freshmen Caroline Mitchell (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) and Jenna Hudson (Fulton, N.Y./G. Ray Bodley) each scored their first collegiate goals in the contest and freshman Jordan Lazarich (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) added her first point, notching an assist.

Junior Kelsey Harshman (Hamilton Square, N.J./Steinart) led the team with five ground balls and two caused turnovers and Conley added four ground balls. Senior Liz Francescone (Cream Ridge, N.J./Notre Dame) added three ground balls and three caused turnovers.

Lauren Smith (0-2) allowed 10 goals and stopped seven shots in the first half for the Pacers before yielding to Teressa Izzo, who stopped five shots and allowed six goals in the second half.
