Warriors look for fourth Basinger Tournament title against Old Westbury

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - After a hard-fought 11-point win over Washington College to open the Louis Fleming Basinger Memorial Tournament, the Lycoming College men's basketball team will host the tournament championship game against Old Westbury on Wednesday, Dec. 30 at 3 p.m.

The Warriors (8-2 overall) had three players in double figures against Washington in the 67-56 win, with freshman T.J. Duckett finishing with 15 points, junior Nykolas King 13 and sophomore Alex Newbold 10. The Warriors posted 30 points in the paint and 28 off 25 Washington turnovers.

The Panthers (4-5 overall) outlasted York, 53-51, in overtime in the other tournament first round game. Junior Lylle Ryals led the team with 17 points and seven rebounds.

Warrior Notes
• Lycoming is 3-2 in the championship round of the Basinger Tournament, last winning the title with a 100-72 win over John Jay in 2012.

• The Warriors lead the MAC Commonwealth in scoring margin (10.3), rebounding (45.4), offensive rebounds (16.6), rebounding margin (6.6), and steals (11.4).

• Junior Nykolas King is one of three players in the MAC Commonwealth in the top 10 in scoring (14.0, 10th) and rebounding (7.1, sixth).

• King needs 24 more points to reach 500 in his collegiate career.

• Sophomore Alex Newbold is the lone player in the MAC Commonwealth in the top 10 in rebounding (6.0, ninth), assists (2.7, ninth) and steals (2.3, third).

• At least three Warriors have scored in double figures in all 10 games this year.

• Freshman T.J. Duckett needs two more points to reach 100 in his career.
