OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Sophomore
Abdullahi Abdi (Seattle, Wash./James Garfield) finished with a goal and two assists and sophomore
Keenthy Yeboah (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blair) added two goals to lead the Lycoming College men's soccer team to a 5-0 MAC Commonwealth win over Stevenson University on Wednesday night, Oct. 6, at Mustang Stadium.
The Warriors (9-1-1 overall, 2-0 MAC Commonwealth) expanded their unbeaten streak to 10 games, the third-longest in school history, and sophomore
Jordan Logan (Oxford, Pa./Oxford Area) became the 22
nd player in school history to post 10 goals in a season during the game.
Despite playing a man-down for the last 75 minutes of the game, the Warriors were able to still control the pace and dictate most of the opportunities throughout the game. Just a minute after going a man down, sophomore
Jordan Logan (Oxford, Pa./Oxford) was knocked over in the goal box, drawing a penalty kick, which sophomore
Abdullahi Abdi (Seattle, Wash./James Garfield) deposited into the left corner.
Just 11 minutes later, the Warriors struck again, as Abdi forced a turnover, dribbled down field and while centering the ball, he gave a quick left-footed touch to Logan, who drilled a 25-yarder into the right corner for his aforementioned 10
th goal.
In the second half, Lycoming struck again in the 63
rd minute thanks to Abdi, as he dribbled near the right sideline before crossing it through the box for sophomore
Danny Tierney (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown), who found the left corner. Just minutes later Yeboah was fouled just outside the box, but he responded by finding the left corner on the ensuing free kick. Yeboah rounded out the scoring in the 76
th minute, receiving a great service ball from freshman
Eli Kouemi (Montgomery Village, Md./Watkins Mill) before stopping and firing a shot into the left corner from 12 yards out.
The Mustangs fell to 3-8-1 overall and 0-2 in the MAC Commonwealth, as they took just four shots, forcing the Lycoming goalkeeping duo of junior
Josh Gildea (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) and freshman
Chris Solecki (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape) to make one save each.
Stevenson's Ryan Callinan made eight saves in the first 74 minutes before Michael Tringali played the final 17, as the pair saw 23 Lycoming shots.
The Warriors get back on the field on Saturday, Oct. 10, when they head to Arcadia for a 5 p.m. MAC Commonwealth matchup.
