GLENSIDE, Pa. – An 87^th-minute goal from sophomore Kyle Stettenbauer (Columbia, Pa./Hempfield) helped the Lycoming College men's soccer team stretch its unbeaten streak to 11 games on Saturday evening, Oct. 10, at Easton Field, as Lycoming tied Arcadia, 1-1, in MAC Commonwealth action.
 
The Warriors (9-1-2 overall, 2-0-1 MAC Commonwealth) dominated play throughout, posting 34 shots while holding the Knights (7-3-3 overall, 1-0-2 MAC Commonwealth) to just six. However, it was Arcadia that got on the board first, forcing a corner in the 49^th minute, which David Colombo converted into a goal with a header.
 
Lycoming spent much of the rest of the half pushing and pressuring while looking for the equalizer, firing 15 shots in the period. Finally, as time wound down, a rebound flew out to Stettenbauer at the edge of the 18-yard box and he delivered his second goal of the season with just 3:21 remaining in regulation.
 
In overtime, the Warriors fired 10 shots while allowing the Knights to take none. They had several opportunities to score, with their best chance coming in the 107^th minute when the Warriors worked the ball to the right side of the goal box and fired three shots, with sophomore Nathan Harding (Secretary, Md./North Dorcester) taking a shot that forced the Arcadia keeper off his feet. The ball ricocheted out, where Stettenbauer lined up for another one and Arcadia's keeper deflected the shot off to the left.
 
Arcadia's Chris Watson made nine saves in the tie while Lycoming's junior goalkeeper Josh Gildea (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) was not forced to make a save in the tie.
 
The tie extends Lycoming's unbeaten streak to 11 games, one shy of the school record of 12, set both during the 2014 and 1991-92 seasons. The first-place Warriors, who have seven points, will get their chance to tie the record on Wednesday, Oct. 14, at 4 p.m., when they host second-place Messiah, which has six points, in a key MAC Commonwealth matchup at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.
