NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Freshman
Emily Hepner (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) notched 14 digs and junior
Lauren Fink (York, Pa./West York) added six kills, three aces and 12 digs to lead the Lycoming College volleyball team, but York was able to notch a 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-21) non-conference win on the Freeman Center on Saturday morning, Oct. 24.

Maggie Slawson (Armagh, Pa./United) added six kills and two blocks and senior
Bethany Richardson (York, Pa./West York) notched five kills and four blocks, but the Warriors (17-11 overall) were hampered by 24 attack errors, 10 receiving errors and five service errors.

Sophomore
Catherine Burger (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) notched 20 assists and six digs and freshman
Kyra Beltrandi (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) added five digs.

The Warriors closed within a point at 23-22 in the first set after a block by Richardson and Slawson, but York (11-15 overall) scored the last two points to take the set. In the second set, the Warriors fell behind by seven points before closing within three at 21-18 after a block by Fink and Richardson, but York closed the set on a 6-1 run. York closed out the match by coming back from a 10-4 deficit in the third set, tying it at 17 before continuing to rally for a 25-21 win.

Brooke Krebs led the Spartans with 10 kills and five digs and Heather Kline posted five blocks. Katherine Graziano led the team with 22 digs and Sarah Wukitch posted 24 assists and five aces.

The Warriors get back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 27, when they host the University of Scranton at 7 p.m. in Lamade Gym. Before the game, the team will honor Richardson as part of its Senior Day ceremony.
