NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Senior
Bethany Richardson (York, Pa./West York) had eight kills, two aces and hit .300 to lead the Lycoming College volleyball team on Friday night, Oct. 23, at fifth-ranked Christopher Newport, but Lycoming fell victim to a hot-hitting ranked team, 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-12).

The Captains (24-2 overall) won their 12
th straight match and hit .406 (44-5-96) in the match, the highest opponent hitting percentage of the season and the first time an opponent hit .400 against the team since 2012.

Cheyenne Altland (East Berlin, Pa./Delone Catholic) added seven kills and junior
Maggie Slawson (Armagh, Pa./United) also posted five kills for the Warriors (17-10 overall). Sophomore
Catherine Burger (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) added 22 assists and eight digs and both junior
Lauren Fink (York, Pa./West York) and freshman
Emily Hepner (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) each added 12 digs.

Hannah Miller posted 11 kills for the Captains and hit .611 and Briana Sutton added 10 kills. Rachel Conway posted 26 assists and two aces. Abby McIntyre posted seven kills and 10 digs and Rachel Close also posted nine digs.

The Warriors get back on the court on Saturday, Oct. 24, when they face York (Pa.) to wrap up their time at Christopher Newport.
