Warriors unplug Chargers in four sets

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Senior Bethany Richardson (York, Pa./West York) led the Lycoming College volleyball team by hitting .519 with 15 kills and junior Lauren Fink (York, Pa./West York) reached a milestone as Lycoming posted a 3-1 (25-13, 25-15, 18-25, 25-15) win over Lancaster Bible in non-conference action at Lamade Gym on Monday night, Oct. 19.
 
Richardson also added four blocks and three digs and Fink posted 11 kills, seven digs and three blocks as she joined junior Kristine Jahn (Enola, Pa./Cumberland Valley) as the second Warrior in as many matches to reach 700 career kills. For her part, Jahn notched eight kills and hit .500.
 
Freshman Cheyenne Altland (East Berlin, Pa./Delone Catholic) added seven kills and two blocks and sophomore Catherine Burger (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) notched a double-double with 37 assists, 10 digs, three kills and three aces. Freshman Emily Hepner (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) led the team with 19 digs.
 
Lycoming (16-9 overall) jumped out to an 11-5 lead in the first set after a kill by Fink and expanded the lead with a late five-point service from junior Maggie Slawson (Armagh, Pa./United) helped the team clinch a 25-13 win. In the second set, the Warriors rolled out to a 16-9 lead and finished off a 25-15 win after a kill by Richardson.
 
The Chargers (12-13 overall) won the third set after hitting .297 (15-4-37) while holding Lycoming to .167 (11-4-42), but Lycoming rallied back in the fourth set, overcoming a 7-3 deficit by going on a 12-2 run to take control in a 25-15 win.
 
Myranda Kemrer led the Chargers, finishing with 14 kills and 14 digs and Hannah Gibe added 13 digs and four blocks. Both Emily Olson and Lauren Grimm added seven kills and Hannah Derr posted 30 assists and 12 digs.
 
The Warriors get back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 21, when they host MAC Commonwealth opponent Albright at 7 p.m. in Lamade Gym.
