GLENSIDE, Pa. – Senior
Nykolas King (New York, N.Y./Manhattan Center for Science & Math) notched a game-high 19 points to go with seven rebounds and three assists to lead the Lycoming College team, which shot 50 percent from the field in the second half, to help lead the team to a 72-60 Commonwealth Conference win over Arcadia University on Saturday, Jan. 10, at Alumni Gym.

The Warriors (9-5 overall, 5-1 Commonwealth) had a solid day shooting, hitting 47 percent (23-of-49) from the field, 40 percent (6-of-15) from 3-point range and 80 percent (20-of-25) from the free throw line.

Three players finished in double figures, with freshman
Issak Bodon (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin) added 13 points and three 3-pointers and senior
Patrick Dougher (Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains-Fanwood) added 11 points and six rebounds. Senior
Malcolm Covington (Springfield, Garden, N.Y./Blessed Sacrament) posted eight points and four assists and freshman
Casey Vickers (Terre Haute, Ind./Bridgton Academy) added seven points.

The two teams worked through five lead changes in the opening stages of the game before a 3-pointer from Vickers gave the Warriors an 11-8 lead with 12:24 left. Bodon followed with another 3-pointer and the team never trailed again. Arcadia cut the lead down to a point at 18-17 with 6:44 left, but Lycoming responded with seven straight points, with Bodon canning a transition 3-pointer to highlight the run.

Arcadia (6-8 overall, 2-3 Commonwealth) closed within a possession late in the half and went into halftime down by just three points after Sean Mayberry hit a layup with 24 seconds left.

Lycoming started the second half with six straight points and by the 15-minute mark of the second half, an old-fashioned three-point play by freshman
Alex Newbold (Bowie, Md./DeMatha Catholic) gave the team a 10-point lead at 45-35.

The Knights cut the lead down to five points once more, but Bodon converted a four-point play and Lycoming expanded the lead to as many as 15 points at 60-45 with 6:58 left and let Arcadia back within 10 points just once more, as Arcadia came within eight points at 64-56 with 2:33 left.

Jose Figueroa led the Knights with 19 points and three steals and Joe Brown posted 17 points, 16 rebounds, five assists and two blocks.

The Warriors get back on the court on Wednesday, Jan. 14, when they head to Lebanon Valley for a Commonwealth Conference doubleheader. The women will tip at 6 p.m. before the men play at 8 p.m.
