Hard-hitting Warriors down Pride

CHESTER, Pa. – Three Lycoming College volleyball players finished with 10 or more kills, led by 12 from sophomore Tayler Whitman (New Cumberland, Pa./Cedar Cliff), to lead Lycoming to a 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-19) win in Commonwealth Conference action on Wednesday night, Sept. 24.
 
Whitman hit .476 and added six digs to help the Warriors (10-7 overall, 2-0 Commonwealth) stay undefeated in conference play. Sophomore Maggie Slawson (Armagh, Pa./United) notched 11 kills, hitting .348, with six digs and sophomore Lauren Fink (York, Pa./West York) added 10 kills, 11 digs and two aces.
 
Sophomore Kristine Jahn (Enola, Pa./Cumberland Valley) added nine kills and six digs and junior Bethany Richardson (York, Pa./West York) added seven kills. Freshman Catherine Burger (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) paced the offense with 43 assists and defensively, senior Kristin Whitehead (Avon, Ohio/Avon) added 10 digs to move within nine of 1,500 in her career.
 
Kaitlin Schnalzer led the Pride (1-12 overall, 0-2 Commonwealth) with eight kills and nine digs. Brooke Ruditys notched seven kills and six digs and Lauren Elliott added nine digs. Sabrina Barbieri notched five kills, 18 assists and eight digs.
 
The Warriors get back on the court on Friday, Sept. 26, when they host the annual Tip-Off Tournament. They begin the tournament by facing Montclair State at 4 p.m. before facing St. Mary's (Md.) at 8 p.m.
