Hot-hitting Warriors sweep Mounties

CRESSON, Pa. – Junior Bethany Richardson (York, Pa./West York) led the Lycoming College volleyball team with 11 kills and an incredible .714 hitting percentage as the team posted a 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-21) sweep of Mount Aloysius in non-conference action on Wednesday night, Sept. 10.
 
Both sophomores Kristine Jahn (Enola, Pa./Cumberland Valley) and Lauren Fink (York, Pa./West York) each added seven kills. Fink also posted eight digs and four aces and Jahn notched three blocks, as the Warriors (7-2 overall) hit a season-best .312 en route to the win.
 
Freshman Catherine Burger (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) added 21 assists and six digs in two sets and sophomore Haley Deibert (Sacramento, Pa./Tri-Valley) added 11 assists and seven digs in the third set.
 
Senior Amber Seibel (McDonald, Pa./South Fayette) added nine digs and senior Kristin Whitehead (Avon, Ohio/Avon) notched eight.
 
The Mounties (1-5 overall) were led by 12 kills and six digs from Lindsey Mercer and six kills from Megan Ruddock. Jordan DeMasi posted 11 assists and Kassidy Shumaker posted three blocks.
 
The Warriors get back on the court on Friday, Sept. 12 when they host the two-day, 14-match Lycoming Invitational, beginning with a 2 p.m. match against Catholic and a 6 p.m. match against Houghton on Friday night.
