Nykolas King (New York, N.Y./Manhattan Center for Science & Math) notched his second double-double of the season and the Lycoming College men's basketball team forced Messiah College into a chaotic 24 turnovers en route to a 79-70 Commonwealth Conference win on Wednesday night, Dec. 3.

Issak Bodon (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Laughlin) added 14 points and senior
Malcolm Covington (Queens, N.Y./Blessed Sacrament) added 12 points and eight assists, as they helped Lycoming's seventh-year head coach

The Warriors (4-3 overall, 2-0 Commonwealth) began to take control midway through the first half, scoring nine straight points, with Covington capping the run with two fastbreak layups to make it 23-18 with 7:32 left. The Falcons (4-2 overall, 0-2 Commonwealth) closed within a point at 25-24 before freshman
Darius James (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Laughlin) hit a 3-pointer from the corner before freshman
Alex Newbold (Bowie, Md./DeMatha Catholic) picked up a steal at midcourt that led to a fastbreak layup.
With 40 seconds left, the Falcons cut the lead to three points, but King fought for an offensive rebound before laying it in. After a turnover, the Warriors held for the last shot and freshman
Casey Vickers (Fort Wayne, Ind./Bridgton Academy) dropped in a 17-footer at the buzzer, giving Lycoming a 36-29 lead at the break.
The Falcons cut the lead to five twice early in the second half, but a pair of 3-pointers from senior
Patrick Dougher (Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains-Fanwood) kept the Warriors in control. The Falcons got within four points at 47-43, but a 3-pointer from Vickers set off a seven-point run and it took five minutes before the Falcons could cut the lead back to four at 58-54. Once again, the Warriors responded with a three, as Boden hit one from the corner. The Falcons cut the lead to three twice more before the Warriors expanded the lead again with a 10-4 run, capped when Covington hit 3-of-4 free throws, the last going in with 1:05 left. The Falcons couldn't get closer than seven in the final minute.
Newbold notched nine points and four rebounds and freshman
Justin Iton (Hackensack, N.J./Dwight Morrow) added eight points. Vickers added a career-high seven points and Dougher notched six.
David Fernandez led the Falcons with 15 points and five blocks and Geoff Boyle added 12 points and 13 rebounds. Josh Clippinger added 13 points, seven rebounds and three steals. Luke Cable added 10 points.
The Warriors held a 22-14 advantage in points off turnover and 12-7 in second chance points, despite being outshot 41.1-40.6 percent from the field. The Warriors also converted 20-of-24 (83.3 percent) from the line.
The Warriors get back in action on Saturday, Dec. 6, when they head to Hood for Commonwealth Conference action at 3 p.m.
