WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Freshman
Shelby Mueller (Collegeville, Pa./Spring-Ford) notched a career-high 16 points and the Lycoming College women's basketball team produced 38 turnovers as it notched an 83-61 win over crosstown rival Penn College on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 14, at Bardo Gym.

Both senior
Janelle Ziminski (Drums, Pa./Hazleton Area) and sophomore
Nicole Calella (Sandyston, N.J./Kittatinny Regional) produced five of the team's 21 steals, which led to 42 points off turnovers and 34 points in the paint. Ziminski also added 12 points and five rebounds and Calella notched 11 points and six assists.

Fourteen Warriors factored into the scoring, as the team improved to 8-1 overall for the third time in the 22-year career of head coach
Christen Ditzler. The Warriors fired up 78 shots, while Penn College (3-4 overall) was held to just 46 thanks to the turnovers.

The Warriors opened the game with a 9-0 run thanks to buckets from four of the team's five starters. The Wildcats cut the lead to six once in the first 10 minutes before the Warriors began to expand the lead again, with a 3-pointer from Calella and a second-chance jumper by Mueller giving Lycoming a 29-15 lead with 7:50 left.

The Wildcats cut the lead down to seven points with 5:07 left after an old-fashioned 3-point play from Hannah Schoenly, but the Warriors responded with a 14-7 run to close the half, aided by a four-point swing thanks to a technical foul, taking a 43-29 lead into the break.

The Wildcats never closed within 13 points in the second half and the Warriors expanded the lead to 25, as junior
Chelsea Henderson (Yonkers, N.Y./Yonkers) hit a fastbreak bucket with 11:05 left that made it 62-37. The Warriors eventually got the lead to 27 as all 15 players on the roster were able to play at least five minutes.

Rachel Duncan (York Haven, Pa./Red Land) finished with a career-high seven points. Freshman
Ashlee Ruzicka (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) also notched career highs of six points and four rebounds. Junior
Victoria Siebecker (Cleona, Pa./Annville-Cleona) posted five points, three rebounds and two steals and senior
Ali Derr (New Columbia, Pa./Milton Area) notched six points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Penn College was led by 10 points, 18 rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocks from Charese Bova. Jamie Steer added 13 points and six rebounds and Schoenly finished with 11 points. Both Danielle Mowery and Alicia Ross added nine points each. Nicole Reyes-Molina, playing her final collegiate game as she graduates in December, posted eight points, five rebounds and three steals.

The Warriors get back on the court on Sunday, Dec. 28, when they host Delaware Valley at 5 p.m. in the opening round of the Hoops for Hounds Classic.
