WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Hitting the floor with a team that includes eight freshmen, the Lycoming College men's basketball team showed that the more things change, the more they stay the same. The rookies accounted 60 points in a season-opening 91-57 rout of Penn State Schuylkill in the first round of the Dutch Burch Tip-Off on Saturday, Nov. 15, at Lamade Gymnasium.

Chris Wallace (Randallstown, Md./Calvert Hall) led the newcomers with 13 points and the quartet of
Issak Bodon (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Laughlin),
Darius James (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Laughlin),
Chris Craft (Waldorf, Md./Westlake) and
Kaliph Grant (Middletown, N.Y./Holcombe L. Rucker) each posted eight points.

The Warriors (1-0 overall) advance to the championship game of the Dutch Burch Tip-Off for the seventh straight year, where they will face Plattsburgh State, 74-59 winners over Elizabethtown in the other first round matchup. Tip-off for the game is at 3 p.m. at Lamade Gym, after Penn State Schuylkill and Elizabethtown play at 1 p.m.

Patrick Dougher (Scotch Plains, N.Y./Scotch Plains-Fanwood) posted 10 points and two blocks and senior
Malcolm Covington (Queens, N.Y./Christ the King) posted four points and six assists. Junior
Eric Ishman (Jamaica, N.Y./Christ the King) added nine points and three assists.

Ryan Eck (Williamsport, Pa./Jersey Shore) finished with three points, two blocks and seven rebounds and freshman
Alex Newbold (Bowie, Md./DeMatha Catholic) posted seven points and three steals.

The Warriors hoisted 73 shots in the game, using the signature fast pace to score a 34-18 advantage in the paint, 29-12 off turnover, 27-6 in transition and 17-10 in second chance points.

After a slow start put the Warriors ahead by one point with 15:46 left in the first half, Lycoming rolled on a 29-1 run over the next eight and a half minutes to take a 34-5 lead after a trey by Ishman. Lycoming expanded the lead to 35 by the break at 51-16, as Craft found Grant for a fastbreak layup with five seconds left in the half.

The Warriors never let the Lions (0-2 overall) back within 30 points in the second half and expanded the lead to as many as 38, as junior
Armani Taylor (Upper Marlboro, Md./Bowie) found Craft for a fastbreak dunk to make it 90-52 with 2:03 remaining.

The Warriors shot 44 percent (42-of-73) from the field in the game and added eight 3-pointers. They held Schuylkill to 33 percent (18-of-55) from the field.
