Bishop’s rebound gives Warriors, 1-0 win over Hood

FREDERICK, Md. – Senior Trevor Bishop (Telford, Pa./Souderton Area) found the back of the net with 24 seconds left to lift the Lycoming College men's soccer team to an important 1-0 Commonwealth Conference win over Hood on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 25.

The Warriors (12-2-3 overall, 4-2 Commonwealth) pressured throughout the game, but it wasn't until the waning seconds that the team could capitalize, as sophomore Bill Kerr (Bowie, Md./DeMatha Catholic) pushed up and took a shot on net that the Hood keeper couldn't corral after diving. Bishop was there for the rebound.

The win moved the Warriors into sole possession of second place in the conference with two games remaining with 12 points, two ahead of Arcadia and Alvernia and three ahead of Hood (8-8 overall, 3-3 Commonwealth) and Widener. Lycoming will face Stevenson and Widener to wrap up the season.

Meanwhile, the Warriors again played outstanding defensively, as the team notched its third straight shutout behind senior Connor Keenan (Exton, Pa./Downingtown East), who stopped four shots en route to his school-record tying 10th shutout of the season. Keenan is tied for the school-record with David Bald (2008).

The Warriors allowed just 10 shots while firing 24 in the contest, as both teams were aggressive throughout, with the Warriors holding a slight 10-7 advantage in corner kicks.

Hood's Henry Mills made 10 saves in the loss.

The Warriors get back on the field on Tuesday, Oct. 28, when they host Stevenson at 3 p.m. at the Shangraw Athletic Complex in a Commonwealth Conference game.
