FREDERICK, Md. – A 3-0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-19) win over Hood in the nightcap of Saturday, Oct. 18's Commonwealth Conference tri-match all but sealed the Lycoming College volleyball team's fourth straight trip to the conference tournament to highlight the tri-match. In the opener, the Warriors lost to league-leading Stevenson, 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-20).

The Warriors (16-13 overall, 4-3 Commonwealth) kept their hold on fourth place in the Commonwealth Conference and now hold a full one game lead over Widener. The Warriors have one conference match left on Wednesday, Oct. 22, while Widener has three left and a 2-3 mark in the league.

Sophomore
Lauren Fink (York, Pa./West York) led the team against the Blazers (9-17 overall, 1-6 Commonwealth), notching 15 kills, hitting .438, and adding 14 digs in one of the best games of her career.

Junior
Bethany Richardson (York, Pa./West York) added 10 kills, hitting .455, to go with seven digs and two blocks and sophomore
Kristine Jahn (Enola, Pa./Cumberland Valley) added six kills. Freshman
Catherine Burger (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) added 30 assists, six digs, four kills, two aces and two blocks and both sophomores
Maggie Slawson (Armagh, Pa./United) and
Tayler Whitman (New Cumberland, Pa./Cedar Cliff) each posted 16 digs.

The Warriors broke open the first set after Hood closed within one at 16-15, as Burger notched a sneak attack kill to start an 8-4 run that closed the set. In the second set, Hood took a 15-11 lead before the Warriors rallied to tie the match at 17. The Warriors came back to break open the set after a tie at 22, as Burger served up three points to help the team take a 25-22 win. In the third set, the Warriors rallied again after the Blazers came within a point at 16-15 before Lycoming went on a 9-4 run to win the match, with Richardson providing two kills to end the match.

Hayley Rogers led the Blazers with 10 kills and two blocks and Kari Betson posted eight kills and 14 digs. Ashley Park-Brouse added four blocks and Keesha Fields notched 21 digs. Kathryn Jones also posted 15 assists and three aces.

Against the Mustangs, the Warriors played tough in all three sets, but Stevenson (21-3 overall, 6-0 Commonwealth) was able to take the 3-0 decision.

Richardson led the Warriors with eight kills, six digs and two blocks and Fink added six kills, 15 digs and two aces. Both Jahn and Whitman added five kills and Whitman added eight digs and two blocks. Slawson posted nine digs and Burger notched 24 assists and five digs.

Megan Miller led the Mustangs with 11 kills and three blocks and Kristen Brooks added eight kills. Samantha Perillo led the team with 21 digs and Sara Bollinger posted 30 assists and seven digs.

The Warriors get back on the court on Wednesday, Oct. 22, when they head to Albright for a 7 p.m. Commonwealth Conference match, looking to clinch their fourth straight conference tournament bid.
