SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Lycoming College volleyball team won a pair of matches during the first day of the Hampton Inn Crusader Classic, downing Dickinson, 3-0 (1-0, 1-0, 31-29), and Allegheny, 3-1 (17-25, 25-16, 26-24, 25-20), on Friday night, Sept. 6, at O.W. Houts Gymnasium.

In the first match, the Warriors (4-2 overall) won the first two sets by forfeit after Dickinson (1-4 overall) showed up late due to travel issues. In the third set, freshmen
Lauren Fink (York, Pa./West York) and
Kristine Jahn (Enola, Pa./Cumberland Valley) notched three kills. Junior
Kristin Whitehead (Avon, Ohio/Avon) notched six digs and senior
Katelyn McKillop (Mount Pocono, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) added 12 assists in the 31-29 win.

After dropping the first set against Allegheny (2-3 overall), the Warriors rushed back to post three straight wins, 25-16, 26-24 and 25-20.

Sophomore
Bethany Richardson (York, Pa./West York) notched 12 kills, hitting a solid .379, and freshman
Maggie Slawson (Armagh, Pa./United) also added 12 kills and hit .321 to lead the Warriors.

McKillop posted a season-high 45 assists and added 19 digs and Whitehead led the team with 20 digs. Junior
Amber Seibel (McDonald, Pa./South Fayette) added three aces and 14 digs and senior
Shelby Gear (Rochester, N.Y./Gates-Chili) notched seven kills, nine digs and three blocks. Junior
Kylee Sutton (Wysox, Pa./Towanda Area) notched eight kills, six digs and two blocks. Senior
Cortney Tice (Canton, Pa./Canton) and freshman
Kirsten Myers (Windsor, Pa./Eastern York) added nine digs.

The Warriors get back in action on Saturday, Nov. 7, as they face Haverford at 3 p.m. and wrap up the tournament by facing Susquehanna at 5 p.m.
