ALFRED, N.Y. – Sophomore Kaitlyn Gulotta (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll) scored her fifth career goal for the Lycoming College women's soccer team, but it was not enough to help the team get past Alfred State, falling 2-1, in the season opener on Friday evening.

Alfred State (1-0 overall) got on the board in the 25th minute as Taylor Reisdorf scored and Kali Muhleisen added a tally in the 52nd minute.

Gulotta got the Warriors (0-1 overall) on the board just three minutes later, scoring on a give from junior Emily Truett (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville). The Warriors also notched five corner kicks in the second period.

The Warriors and Pioneers each took nine shots in the game, with DeCarlo finishing with five saves and Lycoming's senior goalkeeper Caitlin Dougherty (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) making three stops.
