Warriors fall to Dutchmen

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Sophomore Casey Maguire (Egg Harbor Township, N.J./Egg Harbor Township) notched her fourth hat trick of the season to lead the Lycoming College women’s lacrosse team at Lebanon Valley on Tuesday evening, April 23, but the Flying Dutchmen were able to post an 18-8 Commonwealth Conference win.
 
Maguire became just the 12th player in school history to score 20 goals in each of her first two seasons with the last of her three goals, which gave her 20 on the season and 53 in her career.
 
Lebanon Valley (10-3 overall, 5-2 Commonwealth) scored the first four goals of the game before junior Maureen Heagy (Drexel Hill, Pa./Upper Darby) dented the twine for the Warriors (4-11 overall, 1-6 Commonwealth). She added another goal three minutes later to stop a two-goal Dutchmen run. The Dutchmen closed out the half on a 9-1 run, though, to take a 15-3 lead into the break.
 
In the second half, the Warriors posted a 5-3 scoring advantage, with junior Amber Graybill (Pasadena, Md./Northeast) and Maguire each scoring twice in the stanza to lead the Warriors.
 
Graybill posted two goals and an assist to go with two caused turnovers and two ground balls and Heagy notched two goals. Senior Brooke Strausser (Myerstown, Pa./Conrad Weiser) added a goal, seven ground balls, four draw controls and five caused turnovers. Senior Lindsay Schilling (Woodbine, Md./South Carroll) also contributed three ground balls and three caused turnovers.
 
Hana Krechel led the Dutchmen with six goals, three assists and seven draw controls. Both Mel Modrick and Sam Boyce added three goals and Suzanne Sullivan posted a goal, four ground balls and three helpers.
 
Senior Lauren Reitnouer (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) stopped seven shots in net for the Warriors, as she faced 33 shots from the Dutchmen. Erica Ameigh notched eight saves in the win for Lebanon Valley.
 
The Warriors head home to face No. 17 Stevenson in a Commonwealth Conference game to wrap up the season on Saturday, April 27, at 3 p.m.
