Warriors serve notice with first win over Dutchmen since 2008

ANNVILLE, Pa. – A dominating performance by the Lycoming College men's soccer team held Lebanon Valley to just three shots and Lycoming scored once in each half to post a 2-0 Commonwealth Conference upset at Herbert Field on Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 8.
 
The win was Lycoming's first over the Flying Dutchmen (6-4-2 overall, 0-2 Commonwealth) since a 1-0 win in 2008, the last year that Lycoming made the conference playoffs.
 
The Warriors got on the board in the 25th minute, as freshman Moises Lazo (Bowie, Md./Bowie) launched a corner kick and senior Connor McNiff (Marietta, Pa./Donegal) headed it back to the far corner of the net.
 
Junior Adam Kuntz (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East) put the game away in the 78th minute, finding space behind the defense and knocking a shot off the post and into the net.
 
Junior Connor Keenan (Exton, Pa./Downingtown East) was forced to make just one stop in the shutout, as he improved to 6-4-1 on the season. James Clements made three saves for the Dutchmen.
 
The Warriors took eight shots in the game and gained advantage from 17 Lebanon Valley fouls and six cards. Lycoming was issued with one card and 10 fouls.
 
The Warriors get back on the field on Friday, Oct. 11, when they head to PPL Park for a 7:30 p.m. matchup with Commonwealth Conference foe Widener.
