WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Junior
Shelby Gear (Rochester, N.Y./Gates-Chili) posted 19 kills in the championship match of the 15
th Tip-Off Tournament to help lift the Lycoming College volleyball team to its sixth tournament title with a 3-2 (19-25, 23-25, 25-23, 25-18, 16-14) win over Misericordia to cap off a perfect run through the tournament on Saturday, Sept. 29, at Lamade Gym.
Gear was one of three Warriors (13-4 overall) in double figures in kills, helping her earn one of the team’s two slots on the all-tournament team. Freshman
Bethany Richardson (York, Pa./West York Area) added 11 kills, her fourth straight match with 10 or more kills and senior
Jackie Oliva (Barnesville, Mahanoy Area) put 14 balls on the floor while also notching a season-high eight blocks.

Katelyn McKillop (Mount Pocono, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) added 47 assists, 19 digs and four blocks and junior
Amber Seibel (McDonald, Pa./South Fayette) notched seven kills and 13 digs. Sophomore
Kylee Sutton (Wysox, Pa./Towanda Area) notched four kills, two aces and six blocks. Sophomore
Kristin Whitehead (Avon, Ohio) added 30 digs and two aces.
Cailin McCullion posted 14 kills and 24 digs to lead the Cougars (10-8 overall) and Kat LaBrie posted 12 kills. Shelby Brochetti notched eight kills and 22 digs and Meghan Stack added seven kills and 10 assists. Nicole Korgeski also added 27 assists and 13 digs.
Lycoming paced its comeback through its front line, which posted 56 kills and 14.5 blocks in the match, despite Misericordia posting nine more digs (92-81) in the match.
In the morning match, the Warriors posted a 3-0 (25-14, 25-12, 25-18) win over CCNY to finish the round robin portion of the tournament, 3-0. Richardson led the Warriors in the match with 11 kills and 13 digs as Lycoming posted its fourth straight sweep for the first time since the opening four matches of the 2008 season.
Sutton added eight kills and six digs and Whitehead added 17 digs and four aces. Gear also added five kills as Lycoming posted 33 kills and hit a season-best .394 in the match, while 13 players saw time in the match. McKillop posted 33 assists and nine digs.
Dalliana Toussaint posted 11 kills and 16 digs to lead the Beavers (4-8 overall). Vicotoria Del Toro notched 12 assists and Kathleen Santos also notched 16 digs.
In the consolation match, Penn College defeated CCNY, 3-1.
The Warriors get back on the court on Wednesday, Oct. 3, when they host Alvernia in Commonwealth Conference action at 7 p.m. in Lamade Gym.
